Flaine is situated in a large sunny bowl with wide cruising pistes radiating from the centre, and is the centre and highest resort in the Grand Massif with its magnificent ski area.   1600 - 2500 m. Le Grand Massif offers exciting skiing on 133 runs, totalling 265 kms and is good for all levels of skiers from beginners and children to the "expert" and off piste fiend.

The area has one of the best snow records in the French Alps.

Flaine is located in the Haute-Savoie region of France, and is just 1 hour and 15 minutes away from Geneva airport and 30 kms from the A40 motorway (Autoroute Blanche). and two hours from Chambery and Grenoble.

As you might expect with a "designed"  resort, Flaine has a good selection of apres ski activities.

There are two distinct parts to Flaine  -
  - the original resort and the later Flaine Hameau - where our chalets are located.
see map

Flaine Hameau is an attractive hamlet of luxury painted wooden chalets , built on a sunny shoulder of the mountain,at the entrance to the resort  with magnificent views. It is just a kilometre from Flaine Foret, where the ski runs start and is linked by a free shuttle bus, running until midnight.  The shuttle service also links up with Le Col de Pierre Carrée for cross-country and walking trails.  There is also a pedestrian trail along the mountainside from Flaine Hameau to Flaine Foret.

The chalets in Flaine Hameau are centered around the "General Store", which houses  a small but well stocked supermarket, reception, ski shop, atrractive bar and restaurant with central log fire, panoramic restaurant and terrace cafe.

The apartments in Flaine Foret are new apartments, all with large, south facing balconies.  There is an attractive communal area with log fire and internet access.

The original resort of Flaine was built in the 1960's and is not particuarly pretty from the distance - although it has few high rise buildings and when in Flaine you lose the architecture in the magnificence of the setting.

Flaine is built into the hillside and has 3 interconnected levels . Each level has direct access to the nursery slopes and lifts, the Flaine bowl and all the interlinked skiing. of the Le Grand Massif
